Today is the start of a 9 part series of videos that I am going to release on the blog to help people learn about the Bankruptcy process. These videos are from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court website and were produced, I think by the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association. (If I am wrong, let me know so I can give credit where credit is due!) These videos provide basic information about the Bankruptcy process and will provide you a good understanding to build on when you consult with an attorney.

I just finished reading a story on ABC News that a Florida woman is filing suit against her mortgage company claiming that the relentless harassing creditor calls directly led to her husband’s death.  He died from a heart attack, which his widow claims was caused by the repeated harassing phone calls from their mortgage company. Let’s be clear,  this is an extreme case. The repeated, harassing and relentless phone calls from the mortgage company  may or may not be the actual cause of  this man’s death. I wanted to share this story  to get a specific point across:

You do not have to live with harassing creditor calls, threats of lawsuits or other extremely hostile methods of debt collection.

You have the legal right under federal law to stop the harassing creditor calls immediately, by filing for protection under the Bankruptcy Code.
